About the Wessex Harmony
Wessex Harmony (formerly Wessex Corn Dollies) was formed in 1981
with just a few friends. Today, the membership is close to 50.
We sing acapella – 4 part unaccompanied singing. In 2005,
as a result of two successful singing courses many new members
joined the ranks. We rehearse every Tuesday 7.30 – 10.00
pm at St George’s Church, Darby’s Lane, Poole and members
travel in from as far afield as Christchurch and Dorchester to
enjoy this wonderful hobby. The chorus is under the direction of
Franz Atkinson and in October 2007 at the Ladies Association of
British Barbershop Singers (LABBS)
Convention held at the BIC, Bournemouth romped home in 8th place
competing against the top choruses in the UK. 2008 will prove an
exciting year for Wessex, as we are now through to the second round
of the Choir of the Year for the first time.
Would you like to come and see us? You are welcome to come and
listen in at any of our rehearsals or check our events diary to
see where we are performing next.
